World premier piece by director Margaret Wall as part of the 4th annual Sprit of the River

Rehearsals began in earnest for “3 states of mind, 1 river” on Saturday! Maggie was approached by the Estuary Coordinators for the Columbia Riverkeeper and asked to choreograph an original 8 minute ballet inspired by the Columbia River to be performed at Spirit of the River on Saturday, October 9th.

“Celebrate the "Spirit of the River" with a festive evening of music, poetry, dance, photography, spoken word, and fine art Saturday, October 9th at the Clatsop Community College Performing Arts Center at 16th and Franklin in Astoria. The evening begins at 7 p.m. at the Masonic Lodge across the street from the PAC, with hors d'oeuvres, wine and a silent auction of works by favorite regional artists. The performance begins at 8 p.m. at the PAC. This is the 4th annual benefit in which gifted local artists and performers from the region join forces to share their talents at a fund raiser for Columbia Riverkeeper.”

ASB is pleased to announce that we have just received license to use music from, FIVE BAGATELLES by Gerald Finzi, our first time using music composed in the 20th century! Thank you to Boosey & Hawkes and the Finzi Trust. “3 states of mind, 1 river” will be performed by five students from the Astoria School of Ballet: Rachel Atkinson, Raina Christian, Annik Fremstad, Emma Gaeuman, & Alaina Meyer.
